Chemical industry
According with ISIC review 3 in Colombia the chemical production in 2006, including (241) (242) (243) (251) y (252), was (in million $ USD): 9715 which represented 18% of the total industry and 44% corresponded to (242). The exportations reached 2375 which represented 16% of the total industry and 38% corresponded to (242). The importations reached 5754 which represented 24.8% of the total industry and 51% corresponded to (241).

National association
In Colombia there isn't a National Chemical Association, for this reason a lot of chemical industries had affiliated to the most important industrial association of the country which are the National Business Association of Colombia (ANDI), and the Colombian Plastic Industries Association (ACOPLASTICOS). In order to promote and sponsor Responsible Care in our country these associations together the Colombian Safety Council (CCS) had signed an agreement.

ANDI has 1004 members which belong to different sectors of the economy, including about 90 chemical manufacturers and other chemical products.

ACOPLASTICOS has 115 members which include resin producers and transformers, additive producers and machine suppliers.

CCS is a non governmental entity which is dedicating to provide professional education and training to the industry on Safety, Health and Environment. It has 550 members.
