Chemical industry
Pharmaceuticals is the major output of the chemical sector (over 60% of total turnover). Further core areas are food ingredients, industrial enzymes, agrochemicals, catalysts and paints. The sector is highly export driven, with a national and EU trade surplus with a global market. Non-EU markets represent 45% of total exports; 75% of total imports is intra-EU.

National association
The association of Danish process industries has a section representing 20 chemical and related companies,PIBF, among a membership of 130 general process industry companies. The association is part of the Confederation of Danish Industry.
