Chemical industry
The chemical sector is an important part of the Slovak industrial base. Exports are mainly to the EU and include rubber and plastics, organic chemicals, resins and fibres. Imports of pharmaceuticals, consumer products, plastics, inorganic and organic chemicals are rising and are mainly from EU countries.

National association
The association of the Slovak chemical and pharmaceutical industry, ZCHFP SR, has 53 member companies.  Its main mission is to represent and defend the interests of its members in negotiations with representatives of state executives and respective trade union bodies, as well as with representatives of other central bodies and institutions.

ZCHFP SR co-operates with partner associations abroad, mainly with the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) in Brussels, of which it is a full member.

ZCHFP SR represents around 90% of the national chemical and pharmaceutical industry, one of the most importants industry sectors in the Slovak Republic.

Its mission is to advance the operating conditions of member companies in the field of industrial and labour market policy.
