Johannesburg summit

The 2002 Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development  (WSSD) convened world governments, concerned citizens, UN agencies, multilateral financial institutions and other major groups including ICCA to review progress in the ten years since the Rio Summit. 

The Action Plan on Chemicals by Johannesburg plan implementation agreed by Heads of State, provided that, by 2020, chemicals can be used and produced in ways that lead to minimization of significant adverse effects on human health and the environment.

We regarded WSSD as a golden opportunity to make further substantial progress towards the goal of sustainable development, and supported the Action Plan on Chemicals.
