Heightened commitment to Sustainable Development
Long committed to Sustainable Development, the global chemical industry is working towards becoming
even more sustainable. The various initiatives it has undertaken or is planning to undertake
to meet the sustainable development challenge are set out in the document "On the Road to
Sustainability", released on the occasion of the Summit.
In it are listed four areas where ICCA believes it can make a significant contribution:

Chemical safety (an absolute priority - the industry recognises its responsibility
for products along the supply chain and throughout their entire life cycle, and intends to
extend its voluntary initiative Responsible Care ®); |

Innovation (our industry is a vital, dynamic and innovative contributor to
society); |

Capacity building (i.e. improving knowledge about chemicals through training,
education and communication and promoting and spreading health, safety and environmental standards
worldwide) and; |

|
Globalisation (transfer of efficient technologies to developing parts of the
world as well as improvement of education and training). |
Today, ICCA continues to follow up on the Summit, doing its utmost to foster Sustainable Development. |
