About us

The Global Chemical Industry PAVES the Way to Sound Chemicals Management and Sustainable Development

ICCA is an association of innovators, visionaries, solutions providers and product stewardship pioneers. Above all, we are optimists. What others see as challenges, we see as opportunities to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

Approved by the Board of Directors in 2001, ICCA’s mission is “to help the global chemical industry improve financial performance and reputation by tackling global issues and by helping the industry to improve continuously its performance through Responsible Care® and other programs.”
ICCA is a virtual organization, coordinating the work of individuals from member associations and their member companies. We are governed by a Board of Directors representing member associations and a Steering Committee responsible for oversight of several working level groups.
The 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development placed partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society as central to achieving global sound chemicals management and sustainable development goals. Today, ICCA seeks to strengthen existing cooperation with a range of global organizations including UNEP, UNITAR, the OECD and other intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations to build a stronger foundation
The ICCA is the worldwide voice of the chemical industry, an industry with a 2014 turnover of more than euros 3,000 billion (including Observers & Responsible Care members). ICCA members account for more than 90 percent of global chemical sales. More than 20 million people around the globe are employed directly or indirectly by the chemical industry.
