Egyptian Chemical Industry Group Joins Responsible Care® Leadership Group As Full Member

MIAMI, FLORIDA, May 17, 2016 – The Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) formalized its commitment to Responsible Care, by being accepted as a full member of the International Council of Chemicals Association’s Responsible Care Leadership Group (RCLG), in an effort to promote environmental, health and safety performance and sound chemicals management in the region.

ICCA is the worldwide voice of the chemical industry, representing chemical manufacturers and producers across six continents. ICCA coordinates Responsible Care, the chemical industry’s voluntary initiative that drives continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance and open, transparent communication with stakeholders.

The Egyptian chemical industry sector is a major contributor to the national GDP and includes more than 4,300 operating companies that specialize in basic chemicals manufacturing as well as diversifying industries, employs more than 350,000 workers and contributes more than 150 billion Egyptian pounds in investments.

“The Egyptian chemical industrial sector is one of the main sectors that contributes to the national GDP,” said Dr. Sherif El-Gabaly, Chairman of the Egyptian Chamber of Chemical Industries. “Companies that adopt a proactive approach and initiatives such Responsible Care manage to reduce pollution, increase efficiency, profitability and gain positive public perception and improve the business environment.”
